PHILIPPINES. Pattern 80 Reaux (Reales) Struck in Copper, 1859. Paris Mint. PCGS SP-65 RB Gold Shield.
KM-Pn16; Bruce-Pn5; Basso-81a. Large date, small star. SCARCE variety. Intended patterns for gold coinage. The difference in size of the central letters is quite significant when compared to the small date, large star variety. Sharply struck with slightly subdued hard flashy surfaces displaying plenty of original mint red as well as hues of blue, purple and mahogany. A spectacular example with a great look sure to excite the advanced collector.
From the Ray Czahor Collection.
Purchased privately from Karl Stevens.
