DC-2b-i $1 1870 PMG Very Fine 25. A portrait of Jacques Cartier and an allegorical vignette of Athena pointing to Canada's location on a globe appear on the face of this design along with green 1 and ONE protectors. The back indicates that the note is payable in Toronto. This so-called "large date" variety still faces up quite well with bright paper and good colors. It is among the nicest and brightest that we have seen, with nothing finer listed above Very Fine at PMG or in the CPMS census. From the Yuri Solovey Collection of Canada HID08701242017
