BC-17FP/BP $500 1937 Face Proof and Back Proof. The face proof has a portrait of Sir John A. McDonald engraved by Will Ford while the back proof has an allegorical representation of Fertility engraved by Robert Savage based on a picture by A.E. Foringer. The Face Proof grades PCGS Choice New 63PPQ while the Back Proof grades PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ. Both are mounted on cardstock but are not hole punch cancelled as noted on the grading service holders. Collectors possess only nine issued English language $500s, while there are no known French $500s in private collections, according to the Canadian Paper Money Society Note Registry 2013.
