BC-18FP; -18BP $500 1935 French Text Face and Back Proofs. A very pleasing French text pair of Proofs that will satisfy the most demanding of collectors. There is not a single French $500 issued for circulation that is in a private collection. Therefore, Proofs of this series and denomination are the only choice for collectors. However, Proofs are very difficult to acquire as PMG has graded only two pairs, with the Face Proof in this lot having the highest grade of the two. The Face Proof in this lot grades PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ, while the Back Proof weighs in at PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 with an approximate .375 inch bottom edge tear in the cardstock. Pencilled number "0797" graces the backs of both of these Proofs. The item count for this lot is one, as both notes reside within a multi-note holder.
