Mozambique Banco Nacional Ultramarino 50,000 Reis 2.1.1908 Pick 29Bfs; 29Bbs Face and Back Specimens PMG About Uncirculated 55; PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45. A previously unlisted example, as the Banco Nacional Ultramarino was known to have issued only the 2,500 and 5,000 Reis denominations for the 1908 series. The familiar portrait of Vasco da Gama is featured along with brilliant colors. Larger denominations were used on the previous and subsequent issues, though vault stocks may not have required those denominations to be printed in 1908. We previously offered one example of just the face Specimen of this design, which realized $7,050 in 2012. However upon closer inspection, this example shows a green-yellow-pink-yellow underprint pattern on the face, compared to the green-blue-pink-blue-yellow underprint on the 2012 example. This variety may very well be a Color Trial Specimen as well. The Back Specimen has a split and its previous mounting is cited on the third party label. HID08701242017
