Netherlands Indies De Javasche Bank 25 Gulden 1.6.1921 Pick 66Act; 66Actpb Face and Back Color Trial Proofs PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 or better. The purpose of this pair of uniface color trial proofs was to evaluate different color schemes for the 25 Gulden denomination that was envisioned, but never issued. The face image (which contains an ascending ladder serial number LY 123456) uses a tan underprint and blue and yellow backgrounds for the coats of arms on the face (versus green and purple with a drab green undertint). The back proof uses only brown ink for the design (versus a muted multicolor tint). Extremely rare, with this pair making its first appearance in one of our auctions. HID08701242017
