Northern Ireland Northern Bank Limited 100 Pounds 1.1.1943 Pick 183 PMG Very Fine 25. A lovely example of the highest denomination from 1943 issue. Distinctive black and blue inks along with a small vignette of a sailing ship highlight this fine example. In fact, very few issued examples have survived the redemption process, as this was an enormous sum of money in Northern Ireland, convertible to about $475 U.S. Dollars at the time. After World War II, this denomination was devalued to approximately $330 U.S. Dollars, but nevertheless, these sums of money were quite high in Belfast, leaving very few to be saved. In addition to high face value, only a scant few were issued, likely only a few thousand. The prefix "N-I" for Northern Ireland, has the same denominator "A" for multiple dates. In summation, unusually high face value, low production totals, and a fairly depressed economy add to the desirability of this rare and interesting highest denomination banknote. HID08701242017
