Gambia Central Bank of Gambia 25 Dalasis ND (1972-83) Pick 7a PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ. In 1970, the Gambia became a Republic. The Pound was replaced with the Dalasis in 1971. After decimalization Sir Jawara, the Gambia's first president, appeared on its currency.
