(x) Wessex, Edward the Elder (899-924), Penny, 1.40g, Two Line type, Bonos Homo, + edvvrd rex around small cross in solid inner circle, rev. bonvs homo m¯o in two line divided by three small crosses with pellets between, trefoil of pellets above and below (N.649; S.1087), slight surface roughness, otherwise good fine.

The obverse die, with the flaw from the e of rex, is distinctive. Two examples are in the Morley St Peter hoard, see SCBI 26 (East Anglia), with reverses by Bonus Homo, no.136, and by Hesdebert, no.146.
