Umayyad, Caliphate of Cordova, North African issue in the name of Hisham II (AH 366-399 / AD 976-1009) AV Dinar. Sijilmasa(?), date blundered. Kalima in three lines across field; Qur'an IX, 33 around / "Hisham, Commander of the Faithful, al-Mu'ayyad billah" in three lines across field; mint and date formula around. Album 353S; Cf. Miles 353. 3.88g, 19mm, 8h.
Good Very Fine; coarse style (as usual) with some flat areas. Rare.
Most likely a posthumous issue which can perhaps be dated to circa AH 405-425 since the Khazrunid coins which were probably all struck at Sigilmasa or nearby, (circa 430s-440s) are calligraphic derivatives of this type.
