Octavian AR Denarius. Brundisium or Rome, circa 32-39 BC. Bare head right / Pax, draped, standing left, holding olive branch and cornucopiae; CAESAR downwards to left, DIVI•F upwards to right. Crawford -; RIC 252; CRI 399; BMCRE 605-8 = BMCRR East 236-9; RSC 69. 3.83g, 19mm, 6h.

Good Very Fine; slight porosity with a light tone. Excellent portrait.

Not listed by either Crawford or Sydenham as being issued under the Republic, the CAESAR DIVI F series was re-evaluated by Sutherland and placed firmly in this period, the present piece being struck for Octavian before the Battle of Actium.
