Henry VIII. 1509-1547. AR portrait testoon. 7.66 gm. 32 mm. Third coinage. Tower mint. Pellet in annulet i.m. 1544-1547. His crowned and bearded bust facing / Crowned rose, crowned H and R flanking. S. 2365. N. 1841. Good Very Fine; choice metal for issue; pleasing well struck up portrait; attractive tone.
Includes handwritten invoice written by Frank Purvey, photo, tag, and envelope from B. A. Seaby. When the consignor purchased this coin from Seaby in 1984 they informed him that the two things you need for a nice testoon are good silver and detail in Henry's beard. This piece has both.
