King on horseback left, holding sword over shoulder; CAROLVS D G MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX / Square-topped garnished shield surmounted by Welsh plumes; CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO. S. 2754. N. 2191. FRC VII/IX. Brooker 238 (same dies). Good Very Fine; "An exceptional specimen of this issue, good very fine and very rare."

Ex Davissons Auction 35 (3 February 2016) lot 188 Ex Spink 98 (16 June 1993), lot 23. Graded as noted above.

The Spink catalog also noted "Ex Ludlow Sale 17/8/88" and commented: "Not seen by Cooper this is a better specimen than Rodney Smith's or Brooker's (SCBI 238, also Lockett 4469)."
