Cleopatra VII, queen of Egypt, was a woman of great intellect. In allying herself with Antony the Roman warlord, she was trying to preserve her country's independence from Rome. Ultimately though they are remembered as two of history's greatest lovers. This particular denarius celebrates Antony's successful campaign in Armenia.
