Judaea, Herodian Kingdom. Agrippa I. Æ 23 mm (11.95 g), 37-44 CE. Caesarea Paneas, RY 5 (AD 40/1). Laureate head of Caligula left. Reverse: Germanicus, holding scepter and reins, in triumphal quadriga right; in exergue, date (L E). Hendin 1240; TJC 116; RPC 4976. Very Rare. The Bromberg II example (lot 349) realized $29,700 in 1992. This example is of similar grade but struck on a much finer planchet and without the porosity of the Bromberg specimen. A lovely example and an important Jewish rarity. Dark greenish-brown patina. Choice Very Fine. Estimate Value $20,000 - UP
