MACEDON, Akanthos. Circa 430-390 BC. AR Tetradrachm (23.5mm, 13.79 g, 7h). Light 'Thraco-Macedonian' standard. Lion right, attacking bull crouching left, biting into its hindquarter / Ethnic in shallow incuse around quadripartite square in relief, the quarters raised and granulated. Desneux 136 var. (D129/R– [unlisted rev. die]); cf. AMNG III/2, 30; HGC 3, 391. Good VF, toned, granular surfaces.
