ELIS, Olympia. 87th Olympiad. 432 BC. AR Stater (21.5mm, 11.63 g, 7h). Eagle standing left, wings spread; dead heron to left / Nike standing facing, head left, wearing long chiton, holding open tainia in extended right hand, left hand holding long palm frond set on ground to right; A-Λ/I-E in corners; all within incuse square. Seltman, Temple, Series XII, 119 (dies BF/γα); BCD Olympia – (but same obv. die as 46); HGC 5, 332; BMC 18 (same dies); Boston MFA 1197 (same dies). Near Fine, toned, slight roughness, a few light scratches on obverse. Extremely rare, only three specimens cited by Seltman (all in public collections), missing from most major collections, including BCD, none in CoinArchives.
