France; Extremely Rare and Vintage Document/Manuscript signed 8 November 1684 by Jacques De Meulles, Seigneur of La Source, Chevalier, Intendant of New France (1682–1686). He was in fact the inovator of Card money used to overcome a currency shortage in New France, which in turn was redeemed in cash when the king's ship arrived. He was also very much involved in the movement against the Iroquois who were set in driving the French out of the west and divert the fur trade from Montreal to Albany, with themselves playing the role of middleman. And to the north the Hudson's Bay Company, now well entrenched in its posts on the shores of the bay, was luring the northern tribes to trade there rather than with the French.
