Attica, Athens AR Tetradrachm. Overstruck Eastern imitation. Circa 454-404 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing earring, necklace, and crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor and a spiral palmette on the bowl / Owl standing right with head facing, olive sprig with berry and crescent in upper left field, AΘE to right; all within incuse square. Clear evidence of the overstruck nature of this coin can be seen in the duplicated palmette on the helmet bowl, and the shadow of a second owl and the city ethnic on the reverse.
