THRACE, Odessos. Circa 120-90 BC. AR Tetradrachm (34.5mm, 16.68 g, 1h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, Corinthian helmet right (erased in die) above ΔH. Callataÿ Group 1, p. 85, dies D2/R1; Topalov, Odesos 64; AMNG I –; Price 1178; HGC 3, 1587. VF, toned, double struck on reverse. Very rare, only one noted by Callataÿ (the same sole piece in Pella), one in CoinArchives (CNG E-419, lot 18).
