ISLAMIC, Commercial and Coin Weights and Stamps. 'Abbasid Egypt. Circa 8th century or later. Glass Quarter Ratl Ring Weight. Large quadrate glass weight with trace of stamp at top and central hole for suspension. Overall dimensions: 45mm wide at base, tapering to 35mm at top; 43mm high; 26mm thick at base, tapering to 23mm at top. Weight: 86.10 g. Cf. Eldada, Glass 89; cf. Münz Zentrum XXXVII, lot 4217 (both refs for type). As made, iridescence and earthen deposits with some surface roughness, slightly chipped in antiquity.
