ELECTROTYPES AND MUSEUM REPLICA. Gordian III, 238-244. 'Medallion' (Bronze, 38 mm, 53.19 g, 1 h), a 19th or early 20th century cast. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FELIX AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right. Rev. MVNIFICENTIA GORDIANI AVG Colosseum: within, bull on the left fighting elephant on the right; to left, Fortuna standing facing behind the Meta Sudans, her head to left and holding rudder; to right, statue within small temple or shrine. CNG E-Auction 125 (2005), 357 (identical cast). Cf. Gnecchi II 23, pl. 104, 6 (for prototype). A late aftercast. Very fine.
