SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-430 BC. Litra (Silver, 14 mm, 0.60 g, 9 h). ΛEON Head of a roaring lion to left. Rev. Apollo standing left, holding olive branch in his left hand and and sacrificing from patera over altar with his right; to right, grain ear. Boehringer pl. 12, 58. Rizzo pl. XXIV, 17. Darkly toned. The reverse a bit weak, otherwise, good very fine.
