75 mm. Eimer-1689; BHM-3128. By C. Wiener Obverse: Crowned bust of the Queen, left within a border of roses, shamrocks and thistles; Reverse: Victoria sits as Londinia opens the gate to the forest. Inscription: "IT GIVES ME THE GREATEST SATISFACTION TO DEDICATE THIS BEAUTIFUL FOREST FOR THE USE AND ENJOYMENT OF MY PEOPLE FOR ALL TIME / EPPING FOREST 6 MAY 1882". A sensational large medal, masterfully engraved with a high relief depiction of Victoria on the obverse and an incredibly artistic depiction of a deep forest scence on the reverse. A true masterpiece of late 19th century medallic art, produced in a limited mintage of just 400 pieces.
