cf.Fr-1305; KM-B450. Unrecorded mint. Sharply struck on a compact crude planchet with most of the inscription defined. Highly lustrous and quite attractive with just a hint of tone. After succeeding his father, Muhammad Shah, as the 13th Mughal Emeror at the age of 22 he ascended the throne of the already crumbling Mughal Empire. An uprising led by Feroze Jung III coupled with his weak administrative abilities eventually led him being deposed and him and his mother being blinded. He would spend the remaining years of his life in prison dying of natural causes in 1775.
