Fr-1515; KM-49. Standing Vishnu facing; Reverse: Stippled or granulated. Sharply struck and lustrous. During the time these were issued, the fineness was gradually debased from 0.800 fine in 1760, to 0.769 fine in 1767 and 0.625 fine between 1788-94. From 1781-86 the mint had moved from Tuticorin to Colombo (Sri Lanka) where pagodas of this type were struck in 0.708 fine gold. Tuticorin, today known as Thoothukudi, is a port in Tamil Nadu in India. It was held by the Dutch until 1795 and was one of their last holdings in mainland India.
