SPAIN. 4 Reales, ND (ca. 1611-15). Seville Mint, Assayer B (S B - IIII vertically), Juan Vicente Bravo (1592-1612). Philip III. NGC AU Details--Salt Water Damage.
13.04 gms. Cal-Type 90; KM-36.2; cf.Cayon-4763. Bold full shield, mintmark and assayer's letter, partial ordinal "III". Bold cross with nice clear lions and castles. The omission of "OMNIVM" in favor of the full spelling of the king's name inclusive of ordinal "III" would suggest a circa date of 1611-15 which corresponds with the 8 Reales. Light to moderate surface corrosion consistent with saltwater immersion as stated on the NGC insert. Despite the noted defects a bold example with much of the design features clear displaying a thin veneer of tone throughout.
Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
