MEXICO. 1/4 Real, 1856/4-Go LR. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU-55.
KM-368.5. A RARE overdate issue, preserved in quite possibly finest known quality, with little visible wear, no noteworthy marks on either side and eye appealing tone over the surfaces. Magnified inspection suggests that the obverse die for this coin was re-worked from a 1855-C LR 1/4 real, with the remnants of the "C" mintmark remaining visible beneath the newly added "G". Highly intriguing as such.
