PALÄSTINA. ASHDOD. Drachme (4,08g). 5. / 4. Jh. v. Chr. Vs.: Weiblicher Kopf mit kurzen Buckelocken n. r. Rs.: shin und retrogrades heth(?), liegender Widder n. r. HGC ; Meshorer - Qedar . Gitler - Tal XX 10.
Ex Moussaieff Collection London, 1948 - 2000.
RRR! Herrliche Tönung, Prüfhiebe mit Belag, ss
Zur Zuweisung heißt es bei Gitler-Tal: " If we consider the second letter as a retrograde Daleth, the coin could be attributed to Ashdod. However, since the combination of the letter Shin with retrograde Daleth on coins of Ashdod appears with bovine's head as pictogram of the letter Aleph we find such attribution improbable." Zumindest der gleiche weibliche Kopf erscheint dort aber auch (ebd. Taf.VI. II 8).
