Edward VII, silver halfcrown, 1905, one of the finest known, bare head r., by de Saulles, rev. crowned shield of arms (S.3980; ESC, Bull 3571 [750, R2]), sharply struck including on the reverse shield, sheathed in delicate silvery-grey toning, with almost entirely unblemished surfaces; by far the rarest date of this series (mintage of only 166,008), very rare in this exalted condition - essentially as struck and clearly among the finest known examples of this date; certified and graded by PCGS as Mint State 64
*ex. St. James's Auction, 19 April 2016 (lot 266), from which catalogue the grading is repeated
The only specimen to achieve this grade at PCGS who state 2 graded, none higher; NGC have not graded any specimen higher.
