Edward VII, Coronation 1902, matt proof silver florin, as issued in sets, bare head r., by de Saulles, rev. standing Britannia with trident and shield (S.3981; ESC, Bull 3578 [920]), certified and graded by NGC as Proof 64 Matte
The new and very "New Sculpture" reverse design of the Florin was also by G. W. de Saulles and his model for the standing and windswept Britannia was Susan Hicks Beach (1878-1965), the daughter of Sir Michael Hicks Beach, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Master of the Mint (1895-1902). She had modelled Britannia for de Saulles on two previous occasions, for the British Trade Dollar introduced in 1895 and in 1900 for the Queen's South Africa medal.
