Cork, Cork, William Ballard, brass penny, 1677 (W.205 but dated I677; reverse as Norweb 6214), the first virtually flat, countermark good fine, very rare, the second poor, forename and B of surname the only details discernible, rare, traces of probable edge reading PROSPERITY TO THIS CITTY remaining on both (2)
First believed to date from the Civil War period, c. 1688-9, and to have then circulated as a farthing.
