A superb wood Kohl container, most likely from Morocco or Ethiopia, 1950?s. The body is 4-1/4" high, 2-1/8" wide and is carved from finely grained hardwood. It's decorated with incised triangular designs executed in linear patterns surrounding an embedded mirror on one side and a shield design on the other. Both stopper and applicator are nicely turned and match. In excellent condition, with a rich patina developed from long usage. Collected in the 1950's, museum deaccession. Value range: $100 - $150.
