Iron Hatchet Head. English, XIII-XV Century AD. Small axe-head, made for left-handed use - the blade is angled for striking vertically when used with the left hand. Used for splitting wood for lathing. 3.5" long blade with square eye. Stabilized rust patina. Intact, edge slightly ragged. Rare early iron.
