PORTUGUESE INDIA. Banco Nacional Ultramarino. 100 Rupias, 1938. P-UNL. Specimen. Uncirculated 62 Net. Previously Mounted.
Specimen Number 10. An early specimen for this unlisted design. This astonishing example shows with punch through embossing and vibrant yellow and purple hues throughout. We have seen other examples of this scarce type, but found with much uglier mounting remnants and margin damage than what PMG comments on this example as only "Previously Mounted." This variety shows with a non-distracting TDLR Specimen oval at right above the 100 obligation. As far as our memory serves, this may be the most attractive known example available since the only ones we have been able to locate suffer harshly from the aforementioned damage. This note carries a premium for its beauty, and rareness. This is without question one of the highlight pieces of the Portuguese India catalog.
