CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, Year 18 (1929). PCGS SP-63 Gold Shield.
L&M-94; K-615; KM-Pn99; WS-0138; Wenchao-pg. 564 #909 (rarity two stars); Shanghai Museum-Mr. Shi Jiagan's Collection-pg. 130 #604. Designed by the British Royal Mint in England. A gorgeous example of this popular issue with strong flash in the fields and an outline of amber gold tone around the raised designs and outer legends that further emboldens the appearance. Easily qualifying as one of the most attractive examples we have offered.

The dies for this issue were prepared by Langford Jones in accordance with the requested design of the Chinese Legation in London. More so than the other nations asked to prepare patterns for this type, this issue stands out for its depiction of turbulent seas on the reverse, with the cresting of the wave in the foreground taking on almost human-like qualities.

Estimate: $15000.00- $20000.00
