CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, Year 18 (1929). PCGS SP-62 Gold Shield.
L&M-95; K-616; KM-Pn100; WS-0139; Wenchao-pg. 565 #910; Shanghai Museum-Mr. Shi Jiagan's Collection-pg. 129 #602. The American design from the Philadelphia mint, but struck in China at the Hangchow mint. A fully white example of this pattern Dollar issue which displays gleaming luster in the fields and designs that soften slightly in the central highpoints. Overall, the appearance is rather premium for the grade with no significant contact mark on either side.

In 1929, the Chinese Ministry of Finance ordered a new design for the then proposed Dr. Sun Yat-sen Dollar. Patterns were submitted from the world's five leading mints: Italy, Japan, England, United States and Austria. Upon completion, the various mints shipped the dies as well as samples of the new patterns to China.
