CHINA. Dollar, ND (1923). PCGS MS-65+ Gold Shield.
L&M-959; K-678; WS-0105. President Tsao Kun in military uniform. Struck during the relatively short presidency of Tsao Kun which began in October of 1923, the year this piece was struck. After Tsao Kun openly bribed the National Assembly members with $5,000 in silver dollars to gain the presidency, the overt corruption resulted in rival factions turning against him, with Tsao Kun eventually being ousted in a coup led by General Feng Yuxiang in October of 1924. This piece is a top of the line gem, none graded finer at PCGS. Bright and fully lustrous with just a light veneer of tone on the reverse. A real beauty and deserving of a world class collection.
From the Newmark Collection.
Estimate: $15000.00- $20000.00
