CHINA. Yuan Shih-kai Inauguration Insignia Gilt Silver Medal, Year 2 (1913). CHOICE EXTREMELY FINE.
99.3 x 39 mm, inclusive of ribbon. Barac-98. Portrait of Yuan Shih-kai at center, red enamel banner around with seal script inscription noting "President Yuan Shih-kai Inaugural Commemorative Army Medal Issued October 10th, 1913"; Reverse: Crossed national flags over five ears of wheat in multi-color enamels, which are virtually complete, but showing some very minor surface flaking around the red band on the obverse. The red enamel on the obverse appears to have been expertly repaired as evidenced by scratches underneath would suggest. Red silk ribbon with white stripe to either side. Overall a handsome and well preserved example sure to see spirited bidding.
