CHINA. Chang Hsueh-liang Commemorative Medal in Silver, ND (1936). PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed, AU Details Gold Shield.
L&M-965; Bruce-M535. 33 mm. Facing military bust; Reverse: Inscription within wreath. Presented to graduates of Chang's officer training school in Xian in June 1936. Attractive quality for this elusive medal, displaying very little wear and light tone over the surfaces. Mount removal only apparent at 12 o'clock on the reverse. Chang Hsueh-liang was an instrumental figure in ending the Chinese Civil War, accommodating communist rule, and presenting a united front in opposition to the Japanese occupation. One of the great heroes of Chinese twentieth century history.
