THAILAND. Prince Vachirawut Khunteptavaravadee Ceremony Gilt Silver Medal, RS 111 (1892). AU -- Tooled.
31.66 gms. Obverse: Thailand coat-of-arms with legend around; Reverse: 4-line inscription inside surrounding wreath. Struck in commemoration of a "Karasotun ceremony" that was held for Prince Vachirawut Khunteptavaravadee, one of Rama V's 18 children. While mention is made of the location being Kairad Mountain, the actual city of this event is uncertain. The surfaces display shallow gilding, while the strike remains impressively sharp throughout. Magnified inspection reveals some meticulous very light chasing, but it is virtually indistinguishable to the naked eye. VERY RARE as a type and the first we have seen.

Estimate: $300.00- $500.00
