Attributed to S.R.Aston, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, confirmed as POW. In 1987 he was living in Wentworthville, Sydney, NSW when a case was heard by the Pensions Appeal Tribunal. His details were recorded as, Samuel Robert Aston, born 29Ag1922 with military service as follows - Loyal Regt (Boys Service) 18Jun1937-28Aug1940; Loyal Regt 29Aug1940-20Mar1946; Royal Engineers 21Mar-16Nov1946. Service aboard as follows - Shanghai 04Dec1937-28Mar1938; Singapore 29Mar1938-14Feb1942; Malaya (POW) 15Feb1942-10Oct1945. There is an extensive list of disabilities as a result of war service.
