John Edward Blakey, electrician, age 23, born at Robertson, near Cobar, NSW; Enl.17Sep1915 at Inverell, NSW with 12 months prior service in Australian Navy at Garden Island, Sydney, NSW; Emb.19Dec1917 with Light Motor Set Wireless Troop as 2nd Corporal; to Basra 08Mar1918 and Ops in Kurdistan as Staff Sgt; departed Basra 01Oct1919 and was demobilized in Mesopotamia to take up Civil employment with Works Directorate effective from that date; in 1921 Blakey was working at Departmental Officers' Stores, Electrical and Mechanical, Baghdad, Mesopotamia.
