Oliver James Samuels was born 12Mar1893 at Leichhardt, Sydney, NSW; served in ANF (1911-12); 03Oct1911 deserted from HMS Challenger; 30Apr1912 deserted from HMS Drake; married 14Jun1913; Enl.27Aug1914 in RAN and assigned to Cerberus; 29Sep1914 to Australia; 13Feb1915 to Cerberus; Disch.24Mar1915; worked as a loco driver; Enl.06Apr1915 in AIF; Emb.13Apr1915; 12Aug1915 insubordination; to Driver 01Sep1915; 01Oct1915 breaking camp and AWL; 13Dec1915 AWL; to Camel Corps 31Jan1916; Desertion from 02Nov1916 till apprehended in Rouen, France 23Sep1918; 18Mar1919 AWL; RTA 11Jun1919; Disch.10Aug1919; initially denied any service medals but later re-instated; divorced 30Mar1920; 1921 conductor; remarried 06Aug1921; tram conductor 1930-1963; Died 1963 at Balmain, Sydney, NSW.
