Gribble J.W./on Qualifying for/Membership in/The Roo Club/Having Made/a Compulsory Bale-out/on/23rd May 1941/Using a/Dominion/Parachute', name of recipient and date engraved on scrolls. In original case, extremely fine and rare.

Extract from The Argus (Melbourne) Sat 24 May 1941 'TRAINEE PARACHUTES TO SAFETY' - 'Leading Aircraftman J.W. Gribble parachuted to safety when a RAAF plane in which he was flying solo crashed within 200 yards of a main road at Research (about 3 miles from Eltham) early last night. Gribble who is a trainee at No.3 Elementary Flying Training School, Essendon, was unhurt but the aircraft was extensively damaged. The crash occurred when Gribble was returning across hilly country to Essendon after a training flight.'
