AUSTRALIA, Roo Club, plaque in silvered copper with white and brown enamel (65x77mm) by Amor, on reverse 'Presented/by/Light Aircraft Pty Ltd/to/L.A.C. Gribble J.W./on Qualifying for/Membership in/The Roo Club/Having Made/a Compulsory Bale-out/on/23rd May 1941/Using a/Dominion/Parachute', name of recipient and date engraved on scrolls. In original case, extremely fine and rare.

Together with single page of service record and photocopy extract from the Argus newspaper.

Extract from The Argus (Melbourne) Sat 24 May 1941 'TRAINEE PARACHUTES TO SAFETY' - 'Leading Aircraftman J.W. Gribble parachuted to safety when a RAAF plane in which he was flying solo crashed within 200 yards of a main road at Research (about 3 miles from Eltham) early last night. Gribble who is a trainee at No.3 Elementary Flying Training School, Essendon, was unhurt but the aircraft was extensively damaged. The crash occurred when Gribble was returning across hilly country to Essendon after a training flight.'
