Horseman, wearing kausia and chlamys, holding two javelins and walking slowly to right behind horse bridled right / A?E-?A-N?-PO around quadripartite square in relief; all within rectangular incuse. Asyut 152 var.; Raymond group II, pl. VI, 45-51; SNG ANS 22. Very rare and undoubtedly among the finest known examples of this impressive issue. A spectacular, boldly struck coin, beautifully toned and of splendid late archaic style. Choice Extremely fine. From an old Swiss collection, privately purchased from Spink in the 1980s.
