William I (1066-87), Penny, Northampton, Sæwine, 1.28g, +þillem rex, crowned bust facing, between two stars, rev. + sepine on hmt, cross pommée over pellet-tipped quadrilateral (SCBI XVII {Midlands}, 543-45, same dies; N.845; BMC V; S.1254), light tone, attractively so in recesses, much as struck, rare thus.
