Julius Caesar, 49 BC, AR Denarius, 3.70g, military mint traveling with Caesar, elephant advancing right, trampling on serpent, caesar in exergue, rev. emblems of the pontificate, simpulum, aspergillum, securis, and apex (Craw 443/1; RSC 49; Syd 1006), a few light scratches and surface marks on obverse, nonetheless well centred and with attractive cabinet tone, extremely fine.
