A shield, crowned, between two thistles; IACOBUS •6• D* G* R* SCOTORVM • 1592 / A balance with a sword behind; • HIS • DIFFERT • REGE • TYRANNVS • ("In these, a tyrant differs from a king"). S. 5491. Burns II p. 374, 4. Near Very Fine; nicely toned; the obverse scrapes are more pronounced in the photograph than when viewing the coin in hand; scattered deposits; flan flaw in obverse field; the dramatic sword and balance design is particularly sharp. Notably full round flan for this issue. Scarcer date.
