CILICIA, Aegeae. Hadrian. AD 117-138. AR Tridrachm (23mm, 9.71 g, 6h). Dated CY 177 (AD 130/1). Laureate bust right, slight drapery / Veiled and draped bust right of Hygeia; serpent emerging from her drapery to feed from phiale below; below bust, goat kneeling left, head right; ETOYΣ ZOP (date) in legend. Prieur –; SNG Levante –; SNG BN –; RPC III 3345/1 (this coin cited). Fine, toned, some light porosity, obverse metal flaw. Extremely rare variety, Prieur did not own this example when he published his book, one on CoinArchives, and seven, including this coin, cited by the authors of RPC.
